Overview

Supreme Grade Matcha is the highest level of matcha typically available in North America—created for those moments when you want something truly exceptional. It’s luxurious and premium, with a robust matcha flavour, natural umami depth, and a delicate sweetness that lingers.

Grown in the temperate hills of Uji (near Kyoto), this matcha is crafted by a small group of highly experienced farmers capable of producing leaves worthy of the “Supreme” title.

What Makes This Matcha “Supreme Grade”

While many farms produce matcha, only a handful consistently achieve the highest tier of quality required for a truly elite cup.

  • Rare top-tier selection: produced by expert farmers with generations of know-how
  • Shade-grown before harvest: shaded for the final month for deeper umami and vibrant colour
  • Complex sweet aroma: refined fragrance with high drinkability
  • Celebration quality: ideal for gifting, hosting, and special rituals
Color, Aroma & Taste
  • Color: Naturally vibrant green
  • Aroma: Complex, sweet, elegant
  • Taste: Robust matcha flavour with deep umami and delicate sweetness
  • Finish: Smooth, lingering, and refined

Tip: If you’re new to elite matcha, start with Usucha first to taste the full nuance before trying it as Koicha.

Caffeine & Calm Focus

Moderate to high caffeine, naturally balanced by L-theanine found in shaded tea leaves.

This pairing is often associated with calm alertness—clear focus with a smoother feel than coffee.

Traditional Preparation (Usucha)
  1. Heat water to 167–175°F (75–80°C).
  2. Sift 1/2–1 teaspoon of matcha into a bowl.
  3. Add 70–90 ml hot water (about 2.4–3 oz).
  4. Whisk briskly in a “W” motion until frothy and glossy.
  5. Enjoy immediately—pure, smooth, and vibrant.

Tip: Using a bamboo whisk (chasen) prevents clumps and creates a silkier froth.

Koicha (Thick Tea) Option

This matcha is refined enough for Koicha—a thick, concentrated preparation traditionally served in formal Japanese tea settings.

  • Use 2–3 teaspoons matcha
  • Add about 40–60 ml water at 75–80°C
  • Mix slowly (not frothy) until glossy and smooth

Tip: Koicha highlights sweetness and umami—avoid sweeteners to experience the full depth.

Suggested Uses
  • Special-occasion matcha for guests (best use)
  • Traditional Usucha (thin tea)
  • Traditional Koicha (thick tea)
  • Luxury daily ritual when you want something truly premium
